Eli Manning: Plaxico Burress has 'served his time, plus some'

Eli Manning is happy that former teammate Plaxico Burress will be sprung from the big house soon.

But the New York Giants quarterback stopped short of lobbying for his team to make a run at the wide receiver who was on the receiving end of the winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl XLII.

Obviously he's served his time, plus some,” Manning told the New York Post. “I'm excited that he's getting out, and if the Giants or another team give him a shot, I'll look forward to getting him back into football.”

Burress will be released from prison on June 6 so he’ll transition from being locked up to being locked out. Perhaps Manning didn’t make a public push for Burress because he knows full well the Giants are unlikely to make a play for the big wideout.
