Elway continues to endorse Tebow

John Elway not only is a convert to the Tim Tebow camp with the Broncos' amazing turnaround, he is already focusing on the future with Tebow as his quarterback.

Elway told the Associated Press that Tebow is a great football player, and the Broncos' objective now is to make him a great quarterback, which means spending the offseason refining Tebow's game from the pocket.

"Because I think the big picture with Tim is we've got to see the whole body of work. And so really what you want to see with him is the improvement that's going to happen over time," Elway said. "Because, he's done what we knew he could do and where we've seen his progress is what he does within the pocket. What we've said, and I said it when I first got here, was we know Tim's a great player and what we've got to do is make him a great quarterback, and what I've learned is you've got to be able to win from within the pocket."

Elway was roundly criticized earlier this season in Denver when he replied, "No," to a question as to whether the Broncos had their quarterback in Tebow. Now, Elway is saying he believes Tebow can and will get to the point where he will be Denver's long-term answer at the position.

"Do I think he'll get there? Yeah, I do," Elway said
