Eric Wright flunks 49ers physical, trade voided, Bucs don't want him back
Veteran cornerback Eric Wright is out of a job after a failed physical scuttled his traded to the San Francisco 49ers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to NFL Network.
The Buccaneers are going to cut Wright, whose rights reverted back to them when the traded voided.
The Buccaneers had traded Wright for a conditional 2014 draft selection, which goes back to the 49ers.
Wright was going to be released by Tampa Bay if they had been unable to trade him.
Now, the 49ers will go forward with Carlos Rogers and Nnamdi Asomugha as their two starting cornerbacks.
The Buccaneers had cause to trade Wright.
Wright was arrested July 12 on a misdemeanor driving under the influence charge in Los Angeles.
Wright was arrested and posted $5,000 bond. He had a DUI arrest in 2012 in Los Angeles, but the case was dismissed.
"I can assure you the decisions we make as an organization are in the best interest of the team and therefore we decided to trade Eric Wight and we're looking forward to the start of the training camp and the players we have here,'' general manager Mark Dominik said last week wneh the trade was made.
Wright was suspended for four games last season after testing positive for Adderall, which cost him $7.5 million in guaranteed money.
