Erik Walden apologizes to teammates for being distraction

Erik Walden apologized to his teammates for being a distraction after the Green Bay Packers linebacker spent the weekend in jail following a domestic dispute with his live-in girlfriend.

"I want to apologize to the entire organization, my teammates and the fans," Walden said, according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's an ongoing process and I respect that process. It's just unfortunate that I brought something negative for so much positive that's going on with this organization. I'm cooperating fully."

Walden’s attorney is confident charges will not be filed against his client. The girlfriend required four stitches in her head and a hand injury. She has changed her story and now claims she instigated the fight, leaving Brown County prosecutors to decide how to proceed. Walden’s next court date is Dec. 7. Walden’s attorney says the girlfriend never intended to file a police report.
