Erik Walden remains in starting lineup after being charged

Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Erik Walden will remain in the starting lineup after he was charged Wednesday with disorderly conduct stemming from a fight with his girlfriend.

Walden has pleaded not guilty, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and is next scheduled court date is Dec. 27. He faces up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

While his girlfriend required four stitches in her forehead and suffered an injured thumb, Walden has maintained he was acting only in self defense. The girlfriend has changed her story with authorities. The girlfriend was reportedly upset because Walden was leaving to go to Georgia where his high school jersey was being retired in a ceremony, leaving the girlfriend and their two children behind.

Prosecutors believe they can prove the disorderly conduct against Walden. We’ll see how this story unfolds.
