Ernie Sims says $50 grand is a lot of money to anyone
Ernie Sims says no matter how much money you make, $50,000 is a lot of money.
From our perspective, he’s right on point with that.
And Sims isn’t going to let the NFL take 50 grand from him without putting up a fight, or at least appealing his fine. The NFL fined the Philadelphia Eagles linebacker $50,000 for a hit on a defenseless receiver – Tennessee’s Lavelle Hawkins. Sims is a repeat offender in the eyes of the league, thus the high fine.
"I really really hate the fact that I got fined $50,000. I don't care how much money you make, that's a ton of money," Sims said, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "For anyone to take it away from me for something I do on the field, I just think it’s crazy. But this is the league that I play in, I've got to respect that.
"As soon as I turned my head around, I saw the guy, the receiver right there, so I just took the initiative to go ahead and take him out," Sims said. "In their eyes I was hitting a defenseless receiver. In my eyes I felt like I was making a play."
