Ex-Bears QB Bobby Douglass arrested

While he didn’t put a golf club through the front window of a downtown bar like former Chicago Bears quarterback Bob Avellini did not too terribly long ago, Bobby Douglass nonetheless got himself in trouble.

Douglass, another ex-Bears quarterback, was arrested Wednesday in Lake Forest, Ill., and charged with criminal trespassing to a residence and criminal damage to property, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Douglass, who set the record for rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season when he ran for 968 yards in 1972 in a 14-game season, appeared in a Lake County courtroom this morning and his bond was set at $10,000. Douglass’ rushing mark stood for 34 seasons before Michael Vick eclipsed the mark in 2006.

Per the report, Douglass’ trouble stems from a relationship with an on-again, off-again girlfriend. Perhaps it’s off right now.
