Ex-Bill Maybin fired up to play against former team
Aaron Maybin won't deny that he is excited to face his former team, the Buffalo Bills, on Sunday when the New York Jets visit Ralph Wilson Stadium.
"It's been circled on my calendar for a while," Maybin said of Sunday's game.
The former first-round pick, who made virtually no impact in Buffalo, has a team-high three sacks already in limited duty with the Jets, and told the Buffalo News in Wednesday's conference call that he isn't any different than he was before. He's just getting an opporunity. In his final season with the Bills last year, Maybin averaged just five snaps a game.
"Honestly, I don't think anybody's gonna really say that averaging five snaps a game is getting a legitimate shot," Maybin said. "For whatever reason, there was fault on both ends. There was something obviously I didn't do while I was there to give the coaching staff that confidence in me to go out and have more than five snaps a game. Since I've gotten here, it's been a little bit different."
Maybin said he still has plenty of friends in the Bills locker room, but as for team management, "business is business." You can bet that Maybin wants to stick his nose in to the Bills' business on on Sunday.
