Ex-Cowboys LB Lockhart jailed for failing drug test
Former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Eugene Lockhart failed a drug test and was taken into federal custody Friday morning, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Lockhart is accused of violating the terms of his pre-trial release. The 49-year-old has been accused of conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud along with aiding and abetting, per the report. He has been released on bond for the last 10 months and is to stand trial beginning Oct. 18. Now, he’ll have to have a hearing to see if he remains jailed until the trial for testing positive for an unknown drug.
Lockhart played for the Cowboys for seven seasons beginning in 1984 and then had a brief stint with the Dallas Cowboys. One of his co-defendants has already pleaded guilty and got two years in prison.
