Falcons CB Brent Grimes could be back for Saints showdown

The Atlanta Falcons have a long week to prepare for their meeting Monday night with the New Orleans in the Superdome. And they’ve gotten some good news.

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that cornerback Brent Grimes could be poised to return after missing the previous three games to recover from arthroscopic knee surgery.

The Falcons have been resting up since blowing out the Jacksonville Jaguars last Thursday, and Grimes’ return could help get the secondary back to full strength to face Drew Brees, who is on pace to set some NFL passing records.

The report also indicates nickel cornerback Kelvin Hayden could be back by Thursday. He’s also been banged up. The Falcons will need to be at full strength to have a shot at slowing down the powerful Saints’ attack.
