Falcons sign S Tyrell Johnson

The Atlanta Falcons will sign safety Tyrell Johnson after a successful workout for the organization.

Johnson adds depth to a position which needs it, especially after Dwight Lowery went down with a concussion during Friday's practice. Lowery does have a previous concussion history.

Johnson wasn't the only one who worked out for the Falcons. According to a league source, safety Jordan Pugh also worked out for the team.

Johnson, who played college football at Arkansas State, was drafted in the second round of the 2008 draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He's played for the Dolphins and Lions as well.

To make room for Johnson, the Falcons cut fullback Roosevelt Nix-Jones.
