Falcons TE Justin Peelle out after sports hernia surgery
The Atlanta Falcons have announced that veteran tight end Justin Peelle will be sidelined for four to six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia.
The Falcons also practiced today without cornerback Dunta Robinson and linebacker Sean Weatherspoon. Weatherspoon will not play Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals as he heals from a knee injury.
Robinson suffered a concussion on the play in which he delivered a concussion to Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. He will need to be cleared by team and independent physicians before he will be cleared for a return.
Peelle’s absence will put undrafted rookie Michael Palmer in place to be Tony Gonzalez’s backup in the offense.
