Family, friends, NFL pay respects to Heimerdinger

Friends and family and NFL coaches and former players said their final goodbyes to former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger, who died of cancer two weeks ago.

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan and former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher, two of Heimerdinger's closest friends in the coaching profession, both served as pallbearers at the service. Heimerdinger served two stints on each coach's staff, working with Shanahan, his former college roommate, in Denver and with Fisher in Tennessee.

Also in attendance were Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz and Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak, who had worked with Heimerdinger before they became head coaches, and Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, who guided the Broncos to two Super Bowl victories while Heimerdinger was on the offensive staff there.

Condolences and prayers to the Heimerdinger family and his many friends both inside and outside the NFL.
