Father of Julius Peppers busted for cocaine possession

The father of Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers has been arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine in Wilson, N.C.

George Thomas Kurney, 50, has since been relieved of his duties as a Nash County Sheriff’s deputy, according to a report in the Rocky Mount Telegram.

Kurney had been the chief bailiff for about 10 years. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Kurney and another man. Peppers was a star at Southern Nash High School before going to North Carolina and then the NFL.
