FedEx Field shrinking again
FedEx is shrinking again.
A year after the Washington Redskins removed a substantial portion of seats from the stadium with the intent being to build party decks, the club is removing more seats. This time, according to a Washington Post report, the party decks will go in.
The Redskins will remove about 4,000 seats from the stadium and that will reduce the capacity to about 79,000. It was just two years ago that the Redskins listed the capacity of the stadium at 91,000. But the report indicates the club was struggling to sell tickets in the areas where the seats were removed last year.
This latest reduction will allow the party deck plans to be put into place and should allow the club to sell standing-room only tickets while creating a “better fan experience.” The team is also expected to renovate some suites in the construction process.
