Fitzgerald Toussaint promoted to Ravens 53-man roster
Earlier on Saturday, the Ravens announced that they'd cut cornerback Derek Cox for the second time in a week, but didn't mention what the corresponding roster move was.
Now we know. The Ravens have promoted running back Fitzgerald Toussaint to the 53-man roster to replace Cox.
It's an interesting move because it gives the Ravens four running backs to choose from for Sunday's game against the Bengals. Along with Toussaint, the Ravens are working with Bernard Pierce, Justin Forsett and Lorenzo Taliaferro. Toussaint didn't do much during the preseason until Week 4 against the Saints, when he ran for 103 yards on 17 carries.
When Ray Rice returns, the Ravens will have five running backs on the roster, unless one is cut then or before that time. Then again, Gary Kubiak is coordinating the offense in Baltimore and he's long held a reputation for wanting to run the ball. So anything is possible at the running back position in Baltimore.
