Flacco draws $7,500 fine for horse tackle
Plenty of fines are handed down by the NFL in the name of protecting quarterbacks.
Fewer are handed down to quarterbacks for the hits they make. But on the same day that Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford was fined for a hit against the Chicago Bears' D.J. Moore, Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco is $7,500 lighter in the wallet for his horse-collar tackle on Seattle's David Hawthorne, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Hawthorne had picked off a Flacco pass, and the quarterback did make a touchdown-saving tackle, that turned out to be a good move when the Seahawks were limited to a field goal on the drive.
