Flacco: I think I'm the best

Earlier in the off-season, Joe Flacco's agent Joe Linta said he believed the Baltimore Ravens quarterback was in the top five in his position in the NFL.

Linta's assessment was based in part on Flacco's won-loss record during his time as the Ravens quarterback. On Tuesday with ESPN Radio 1570 in Baltimore, Flacco took that a step further, saying he believes he is the best quarterback in the NFL and that he should feel that way if he is successful at his job.

"I assume everybody thinks they're a top-five quarterback," Flacco said. "I mean, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'm top five, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'd be very successful at my job if I didn't feel that way. I mean, c'mon? That's not really too tough of a question.

"That doesn't mean that things are going to work out that way. It just means that's the way it is -- that's the way I feel that it is and that's the way I feel it should be."

Flacco is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and wants to work out an extension to stay in Baltimore long-term, hoping to avoid the franchise tag next year if he can.

"It's not about the money. It's about what you feel you deserve," Flacco told WNST. "At the end of the day, they'll take care of it and I'll be waiting."
