For now, NFL not changing starting time of Giants-Vikes game
The NFL has not moved back the starting time for the New York Giants-Minnesota Vikings game on Sunday at the Metrodome.
With snow pounding the Twin Cities area and the Giants stuck in Kansas City, the game remains scheduled to being at 1 p.m. (ET) on Sunday.
“If all goes as we hope, the (Giants) will be lined up for kickoff at noon central time, which is exactly what we want to do,” team spokesman Pat Hanlon said on his Twitter account.
Per Hanlon, the Giants plan to wake up at the Kansas City hotel at 6 a.m. and depart on their Continental Airlines charter flight at 8. The flight to Minneapolis is less than an hour. It would create a rush to get to the stadium and get ready for the start of the game.
The NFL changed the start time of the Chicago Bears-Baltimore Ravens game last year when almost two feet of snow crippled Baltimore. That delay, though, was to ensure that the stadium was cleared of snow.
The league will continue to monitor the situation.
