Former 49ers personnel executive Allan Webb passes

Allan Webb, who was a pro personnel executive for the San Francisco 49ers during a 13-year run that included four Super Bowl championships, has died.

The team announced the news today that Webb, 80, died Monday from heart failure.

Webb was an All-American at Arnold College in Connecticut and eventually played for the New York Giants after serving in the Navy and playing in the CFL.

Webb coached in the Atlantic Coast Football League after he retired as a player and held personnel jobs with the Giants and he served as the director of pro personnel for the Cleveland Browns for four seasons beginning in 1979. He then went to the 49ers and retired following the 1995 season.
