Former All-Pro 49ers center Forrest Blue passes away

Forrest Blue, a four-time Pro Bowl performer for the San Francisco 49ers, passed away last week at an assisted-living facility in California.

The team announced Blue, who was 65, died. Twice in his career he was first team All-Pro center and he played for seven seasons from 1968 to 1974.

A former star at Auburn and a captain of the Tigers team in 1967, Blue earned a degree in economics at school. He was a first-round draft pick in 1968 and was on the 49ers team that won three consecutive NFC West titles in the early 70’s. He played for the Baltimore Colts from 1975 to 1978 and then retired from the game.

Blue ran a development company in Penryn, Calif., after his playing days concluded.
