Four Vikings fans making trek to Hattiesburg, Miss.
Earlier this offseason, some desperate Minnesota Vikings fans (desperate to see Brett Favre return) bucked up to buy a billboard in Hattiesburg, Miss., thanking Favre for an MVP-type season. It was all in the hopes No. 4 would return in a purple uniform this season.
Now, four Vikings fans are going to make their way from the Twin Cities to Hattiesburg this week, according to the Hattiesburg American. They’re leaving the Mall of America and heading south – way south – starting Tuesday with a planned arrival of Thursday.
What are they going to do once they get there? A visit to Oak Grove High School, where Favre occasionally works out, and Southern Miss, his alma mater, are in the works. The foursome also wants to hit the Broke Spoke, a joint in Favre’s hometown of Kiln where bras and panties hang from the ceiling.
The group will have the Vike Bike with it, the purple motorcycle that the team’s mascot Ragnar rides onto the field at the Metrodome before every game. Todd Glocke, one of the four fans making the trip, owns the bike.
“The night (the Vikings) lost to (the Saints in the NFC Championship), I just was thinking about how the season was the best I could remember,” Glocke told the American. “And if it wasn’t for Brett Favre, (the Vikings) wouldn’t have gone that far. So lately I’ve been thinking about what a fan could do to thank him.
“So I thought I could drive the motorcycle down there just to say, ‘Thanks.’”
