Free agent D-lineman Kenny Smith out for the year
Veteran defensive lineman Kenny Smith will not be able to play during the 2010 season.
Smith suffered a torn Achilles tendon working out, according to his agent Paul Sheehy of Pro Star Sports Agency. Sheehy tweeted that Smith will undergo surgery on Monday. It’s a tough blow for Smith, who was hoping to find a team during training camp.
Smith played for the Kansas City Chiefs last season. He’s also made stops with the New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Oakland Raiders. The New Orleans Saints made Smith a third-round draft pick back in 2001.
