Fullback Charles Ali signs with Cardinals
Fullbacks are finding it more and more difficult to find work these days as offenses continue to go away from two-back sets, but Charles Ali landed a gig today, signing a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals.
The four-year veteran opened his career as an undrafted free agent in 2007 with the Cleveland Browns. He made four starts and played in 28 games for them over two seasons before being released in final cuts last September. He then played in the UFL and ha a brief stop with the Baltimore Ravens. They released him two weeks ago.
The Cardinals used Dan Kreider at fullback last season when he appeared in 14 games and made three starts. The 11-year veteran is an unrestricted free agent. Another veteran fullback, Jason McKie, is also looking for work after being let go in Chicago earlier this offseason.
