Gates, Mathews back in practice for Chargers

San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates and running back Ryan Mathews both practiced on Wednesday and appear on track to play Sunday when the Chargers face the Atlanta Falcons, says the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Gates missed last Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans with a rib injury, but his replacement, Danta Rosario scored three touchdowns.

Mathews has yet to play this season as he recovers from a broken collarbone, but looks as though he could be ready to make his 2012 debut.

Meanwhile, tackle Jared Gaither continues to have issues as he tries to make his way back from a back injury.
