Giants consider Will Blackmon as return option

The New York Giants kicked the tires on veteran punt returner Will Blackmon on Wednesday and it will be interesting to see if they make a move for him before they play again.

The Giants are on a bye this week so there is no need for them to make a move immediately. There could be need for them to find an upgrade over Darius Reynaud at what has been a position of need for them this season.

As Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger reported, Reynaud “regressed” during the team’s victory on Monday in Dallas, according to special teams coach Tom Quinn. He is averaging only 5.9 yards per return.

Blackmon was a solid returner and special teams performer for the Green Bay Packers before a knee injury last season. The team cut him loose with an injury settlement earlier this season. We’ll see if anything shakes out for Blackmon with the Giants.
