Giants finalize training camp deal for Albany

As expected, the New York Giants will be heading back to Albany, N.Y., for training camp this summer.

In fact, the team struck a deal that includes a two-year option through 2012 with University at Albany to hold camp there, meaning they may not have to be concerned come late spring next year where they will be once camp rolls along.

It marks the 15th consecutive summer the Giants will pack their bags for Albany.

“Albany has been an ideal summer home for our football team,” Giants president John Mara said in a statement released by the team. “With the support of (school) president (George M.) Philip and his predecessors and Mayor (Gerald) Jennings and the rest of the staff at the university, in addition to the great facilities, we have felt for 15 years that starting our season in Albany gives us the best chance to succeed each season.”
