Giants' Larry Donnell turning into star
Early this season, tight end Larry Donnell has been a often-used target of quarterback Eli Manning.
He continued that trend, but in a much bigger way Thursday night. Against Washignton, Donnell cauhgt seven passes for 54 yards and three touchdowns in the Giants' 45-14 win. All three of Donnell's touchdowns came in the first half.
Already this season, Donnell has been targeted 31 times. The percentage of passes he's coming down with is high, as he's caught 25 of them. Behind Victor Cruz, it looks like Manning is looking Donnell's way the most and for good reason.
He's 6-6 and 265 pounds, providing a mismatch against linebackers and smaller corners in coverage. He'll certainly start drawing more attention from defensive coordinators as a result of his huge game. But with the way the Giants have played on offense the past three weeks, that may not matter. Donnell looks like a a star in the making.
