Giants LB Goff stands to lose nearly half his game check
The NFL has fined New York Giants linebacker Jonathan Goff $12,500 for two penalties he picked up on one play last Sunday.
First, Goff was penalized for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Chicago Bears quarterback Todd Collins. That shot cost him $7,500. Then, officials threw a flag for a late hit he put on Bears right tackle Kevin Shaffer. The league zapped him for another $5,000 for that hit.
It was an expensive no-play. The hit on Collins wiped out an interception by Giants rookie Jason Pierre-Paul. Goff can appeal the fines if he would like. With a base salary of $470,000, the fines almost total half of his net game check of $27,647.
