Giants lineman David Diehl undergoing thumb surgery, out six weeks

New York Giants offensive tackle David Diehl is undergoing thumb surgery today, the team announced.

Diehl is expected to miss six weeks.

The Giants announced that he has an unstable right thumb and surgery will be performed by Dr. Robert Hotchkiss at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

Although Diehl practiced Tuesday with a cast on his right hand, a magnetic resonance imaging exam and examination by Dr. Hotchkiss this morning, determined the injury required surgery.
