Giants' owner jabs at Jets over Tebow presser

The New York Giants have the Lombardi Trophy, but owner John Mara still couldn't resist a barb hurled toward the rival Jets regarding today's press conference for the acquisition of Tim Tebow.

Mara told Newsday's Bob Glauber, on Sunday that "the David Carr press conference would be tomorrow too," when asked if New York was big enough for the Giants and Tebow.

The Jets have come under some criticism for having an introductory press conference today for Tebow, since they have declared that, for now at least, he will back up Mark Sanchez. Many are saying that teams don't hold press conferences for backup quarterbacks. (I seem to recall Mike Vick having one when he signed with the Eagles. Ditto for Vince Young last year).

And when your new No. 2 quarterback is a high-profile former Heisman Trophy winner, and a national phenomenon heading to the media center of the world, then yes, there will be a press conference to announce his arrival.
