Giants place Cooper Taylor on injured reserve, promote Eric Herman
The New York Giants placed safety Cooper Taylor on injured reserve and promoted offensive guard Eric Herman to the active roster from the practice squad.
A fifth-round selection from Richmond, Taylor played in 10 games as a rookie. He suffered a hamstring injury in San Diego on Dec.8 and was inactive the last two weeks vs. Seattle and Detroit. Taylor had earlier missed three games with a shoulder injury.
Taylor saw most of his action on special teams. On Nov. 10 vs. Oakland, he picked up the ball after fellow rookie Damontre Moore blocked a Marquette King punt and returned it 21 yards for the Giants' first touchdown in a 24-20 victory.
Herman was a seventh-round draft choice from Ohio University. He was waived on Aug. 31 and signed the following day to the practice squad, where he spent the entire season until his promotion Wednesday,
The Giants also signed defensive back Travis Howard from Ohio State to their practice squad.
