Giants S Will Hill suspended 4 games for drug violation

The New York Giants can swap out safeties using the suspended list.

Tyler Sash has been reinstated following his suspension and now the Giants will lose safety Will Hill for four games.

The NFL suspended Hill for four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Hill’s suspension begins immediately and he is eligible to return following the Nov. 4 game vs. Pittsburgh. Sash had been on a one-week roster exemption after completing his suspension.

Hill was suspended for using Adderall, the same drug that got Sash punished, according to the Giants Web site.

“I received a doctor’s prescription for Adderall prior to signing with the Giants,” Hill said, according to the team’s Web site. “Shortly after signing with the team, I was in a meeting with (director of player development) Charles Way, who reviewed the list of the league’s banned substances. I knew at that point that this may be an issue. I was tested and the results came back that Adderall was in my system. I appealed but lost the appeal. I accept full responsibility for this situation, and it won’t happen again. The Giants have given me a great opportunity when nobody else would, and I don’t take that for granted. I feel badly this has happened. I will work hard and stay in great shape these next four weeks so I can come back and contribute to this team after my suspension.”

Hill had played well on defense and special teams. But Sash got valuable experience as a rookie last season and should be able to plug in and go.
