Giants send big traveling party to Ijalana's pro day
A lot of mock drafts have matched up the New York Giants with Mike Pouncey, the center/guard from Florida who wants to follow his brother Maurkice in being a first-round draft pick.
At No. 19, Pouncey could help the Giants immediately as injuries have given them some real stumbling blocks on the interior of their line.
But the Giants are also doing their homework on an offensive tackle. In fact, they got a real good look Wednesday at Villanova’s Ben Ijalana as they sent four representatives to his pro day. According to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger, college scouting director Marc Ross, offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, scout Chris Petit and assistant offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. were in attendance.
Ijalana might not go No. 19, but you never know. He didn’t participate in the Senior Bowl or the Scouting Combine because of a hernia so the Giants went in to make sure they had all their bases covered.
