Giants will get left tackle David Diehl back this week
The calvary might not be arriving, but help is on the way.
The banged-up offensive line of the New York Giants will get a boost this week when David Diehl will return from a pulled hamstring to man his left tackle position for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings. Diehl has missed the previous four games and in that span his replacement, Shawn Andrews, went out with a back injury.
So, Diehl will be back in time to replace Will Beatty, who struggled in Sunday’s win over the Washington Redskins, according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger, earning two holding penalties and one false start. Diehl’s timing might be just right. After a terribly slow start to the season, Jared Allen is finally producing again as the right end for the Vikings. Diehl had limited work in practice last week.
“I’m actually doing excellent. Rehabbing, everything’s been going awesome,” Diehl said on ESPN radio, according to Garafolo. “I made a lot of progress last week and I thought I was going to have the opportunity. I was close but I just wasn’t there.
“But I’m playing this weekend.”
