Gonzalez gets boot from Patriots

Anthony Gonzalez's career with the New England Patriots was a short one.

Gonzalez, a former first-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, flashed early in his career, including 57 receptions his rookie season. But injuries had limited him to just five receptions and 11 games over his final three seasons with the Colts.

Gonzalez had hope to restart his career with the Patriots, but given that he didn't make it even to training camp is probably not a good sign for where his career is right now.

The Pats did sign former Colts offensive lineman Jamey Richard and tight end Nick Melillo on Tuesday and announced the signing officially of seventh-round pick Alfonzo Dennard.
