Greg Hardy's accuser details alleged attack
Nicole Holder, the former girlfriend of Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy of assault, offered detailed testimony of what she said occurred the night the Pro Bowler allegedly assaulted her.
Holder, according to The Charlotte Observer's Joe Person, said that Hardy backhanded her and tried to flush a necklace that he bought her down the toilet. Guns were present in the apartment and Holder testified that Hardy threatened to kill her.
When Holder tried to retrieve the necklace, she said Hardy slammed the toilet seat down on her arm repeatedly.
Holder said she didn't offer a statement immediately to police following the incident because, "I thought high-profile people get away with [things]."
During cross-examination, Holder admitted to using cocaine the night of the alleged assault.
One of the reasons the fight broke out was over a previous relationship Holder had with the rapper Nelly. In her testimony, she said Hardy had also cheated on her multiple times.
The alleged assault occurred in mid-May and Hardy was arrested and charged. He posted bail and has been free since.
"We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate,” the Panthers said in a statement at the time.
This is definitely a messy situation for both parties and one the Panthers will closely monitor. Carolina designated Hardy with the franchise tag earlier this offseason, prior to this incident.
Hardy tied a Panthers team record with 15 sacks a season ago.
