Greg Jennings expected back at practice on Sunday

Eighteen members of the Green Bay Packers sat out during the team’s second preseason game Thursday night against the Cleveland Browns.

Not all of them, like newly signed running back Cedric Benson, were out with injuries. But the vast majority were or the club elected to sideline them as a precaution.

But some good news is on the way. Wide receiver Greg Jennings, out for more than two weeks since Aug. 3 with a concussion, is expected back this weekend. Coach Mike McCarthy suggested in his press conference Friday that Jennings will return to the practice field on Sunday, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Jennings has passed through the medical criteria needed to get back on the field, and this would easily put him on pace to be on the field at the start of the regular season.

The Packers also announced that inside linebacker Desmond Bishop underwent surgery to repair his hamstring injury. It’s not yet known if he will return this season. The club doesn’t have to make a decision on injured reserve at this point.
