Greg Schiano still plucking assistants from Rutgers

If we’ve learned anything from the hiring of Greg Schiano by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers it’s that late hires of college coaches made by NFL teams can make it tricky to put a staff together.

The Bucs are still winding their way through that process and Pewter Report indicates it’s slowly being finalized with the likely addition of Ben McDaniels, the brother of New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

Per the report, Ben McDaniels has left his job at Columbia University where he was offensive coordinator to become the quarterbacks coach for the Bucs. Schiano has also lured three more people from Rutgers to help him out.

Special teams coordinator Phil Galiano has left the Scarlet Knights to accept the same position in Tampa. Graduate assistant Andre Janocko will also join Schiano in Tampa as an offensive quality control coach. Schiano is also reported to have hired away associate athletic director Kevin MacConnell as a director of operations.

Soon, hopefully the Bucs and Schiano will be able to introduce an entire staff.
