Groin injury could be issue for Greg Jennings in short week

Greg Jennings missed two weeks during training camp when he was sidelined with a concussion.

Now, the Green Bay Packers wide receiver has a new ailment that could be problematic, particularly in a short week. The Packers are hosting the Chicago Bears on Thursday night as the NFL Network begins its extended package of games for the 2012 season.

Jennings suffered a groin muscle injury on the final drive of the Packers’ 30-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Lambeau Field. It’s too early to get a good gauge on his status for the NFC North tussle.

“Spoke to Greg after the game, he didn't feel very good about it,” Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said Monday night. “Spoke to him again (Monday) morning, feels better today than he did last night. Frankly, we really won't know until we hit the practice field tomorrow as far as his status or his possible status for Thursday night.”

That would be a significant loss for the Packers if Jennings is unable to play. The Packers toppled the Bears 35-21 in Week 16 last season at Lambeau Field with Jennings out of the lineup.
