Gronkowski campaigns for Madden '13 cover

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski says he wants to be on the cover of the video game Madden '13 and has begun to campaign for the spot, says NESN.

He said he is enlisting the help of his football playing brothers in the matter and his campaign motto is "Now get hype'd, and get Gronk'd."

Gronk had better hope he doesn't get zonked, because in recent years there have been plenty of player whose careers have taken sudden downturns after being on the cover of the game. Just this past season, Peyton Hillis, the Madden '12 cover boy, was beset by a hamstring injury and and ordeal regarding his contract situation.

Past players who have struggled either on the field or off following being on the Madden cover have included the likes of Michael Vick, Shaun Alexander and Vince Young. Gronkowski is already trying to come back from ankle surgery.

Also, there is no word yet on whether Gronkowski might appear shirtless on the Madden '13 cover, if he gets the gig.
