Hakeem Nicks talks about making it back for training camp
Hakeem Nicks says he got to the point two weeks ago that he could begin running but he’s not. Or something like that.
The plan for the New York Giants wide receiver is to take it slow with the goal being to be on the field and ready for the beginning of the regular season. He’s still talking about being cleared to participate during training camp.
“Definitely making training camp,” Nicks said during a visit on WFNZ in Charlotte, according to sportsradiointerviews.com. “I started running about two weeks (ago) but the coaches don’t really want me to force the issue right now so I still haven’t started running yet. They want me to just take my time with it — they feel like that’s what’s best. So right now I’m just taking my time with it. But I’ll definitely be ready for the season.”
That’s a little tricky to interpret right there. The bottom line is the regular season is what matters. Broken foots can be tricky injuries for wide receivers and defensive backs. The Giants have said all the right things about the injury that happened during May in workouts. Hopefully, all parties keep the focus on the regular season. If Nicks can return early, great.
