Hall of Famer Pete Pihos dies at 87
Hall of Fame wide receiver Pete Pihos died this morning. He was 87.
Pihos was a leader on two Philadelphia Eagles teams that won NFL Championships. He made the game-winning reception in the 1949 championship game against the Rams. He was a member of the 1948 and 1949 title clubs.
Pihos was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1970. He finished his career with 373 receptions and 61 touchdowns.
Pihos passed away at a nursing home in North Carolina, according to the Associated Press. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease.
