Harbaugh makes headway filling out coaching staff

Jim Harbaugh made some headway on filling out his coaching staff with the San Francisco 49ers today.

The 49ers finally made it official and hired Vic Fangio as the defensive coordinator and Greg Roman as the offensive coordinator. Both held those positions under him at Stanford. Roman may have just the title as Harbaugh will be heavily involved in all aspects of the offense.

The 49ers also hired Ed Donatell as a defensive backs coach, according to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle. Donatell previously worked as a defensive coordinator in Atlanta and Green Bay. That’s a good hire for the 49ers, who need to see some improvement from the secondary.

Per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, Tim Drevno will also make the move from Stanford to the 49ers. He coached the offensive line in college and will handle that position again.
