When the Seattle Seahawks decided to part ways with quarterback Matt Hasselbeck shortly after the NFL lockout ended, the Tennessee Titans quickly pounced.

Even during the lockout, Hasselbeck was a guy who had been on Tennessee's radar as a potential solution to their quarterback issues once free agency finally began.

Through the first four games, the Titans have been handsomely rewarded by going after Hasselbeck, who is as offensive coordinator Chris Palmer said, has sipped the "Fountain of Youth" at age 36.

In the first quarter of the year, Hasselbeck has not only gotten on the same page enough to help Tennessee to a 3-1 start, but he is putting up stats that would be career bests in nearly every category, including a 104.7 passer rating that would be the best of his career.

“I just think it's a good fit for me here. There's a lot of pieces in place here,” Hasselbeck said. “I think they had a pretty good team and they were looking to fill a spot at the quarterback position, somebody who could just do their job, nothing special and let everybody else around you make plays. And we've got some playmakers here.”

It's been a good enough fit that suddenly the Titans, who were in as much disarray during the lockout as any team in the NFL, now look like legitimate contenders in the Peyton Manning-less AFC South.

And the big losers in all this right now appears to be the Seahawks, who have taken a giant step backwards with free-agent import Tarvaris Jackson at the controls of their offense.
