Hasselbeck sharper than Locker in recent days

Early in training camp, second-year pro Jake Locker, who is trying to unseat veteran Matt Hasselbeck as the Tennessee Titans starting quarterback, was looking solid in his bid.

But the past couple of days, it has been the veteran Hasselbeck, who has risen to the occasion in the race to be under center for Tennessee this season, says Dan Ariks of TitanInsider.com.

Ariks points out that Hasselbeck went 9-for-9 in team drills, while Locker struggled going 1-for-10, even though some of his throws were dropped by receivers. Coach Mike Munchak isn't about to anoint a starter either way this early in camp, despite the report earlier in the week that the race was Locker's to lose.

“If the guys aren't hitting what they want then obviously they start to press a little bit, but that is something that happens in this league." Munch continued, "We are in training camp, There are a lot of ups and downs, he'll (Locker) will be fine."
