Haynesworth gets to play with starters
It took far longer than Albert Haynesworth ever imagined it would.
But in the first quarter of the Washington Redskins’ third preseason game tonight, Haynesworth was inserted with the first team. He’s been lined up at right end. The irony of that, of course, is that Haynesworth boycotted the entire offseason program because he was upset at having to play nose tackle in Jim Haslett’s 3-4 scheme.
We’ll see how this plays out. Haynesworth has created a storm even since showing up, steaming last week after he was forced to play in the second half. This situation remains fluid but the fact that the team is now using him with the starters indicates he’s making strides.
Who knows? Maybe Haynesworth will go bonkers after the game at the New Meadowlands Stadium against the New York Jets.
