Haynesworth to take conditioning test on Saturday
Ten days into training camp, Albert Haynesworth is ready to give Mike Shanahan’s conditioning test a try for the third time.
Will it be the charm?
Well, an MRI on Thursday revealed no structural damage in the defensive tackle’s balky knee, so he’s only battling the pain. Haynesworth failed the conditioning test in his first effort after a potty break and then tweaked the knee, reportedly, in his second bid. Jason Reid of the Washington Post reports Haynesworth will <a href="http://twitter.com/JReidPost/status/20513023403" target="_blank">give it a go Saturday in an effort to join his teammates on the practice field. He has already missed 14 practices.
The Redskins are anxious to get Haynesworth on the field. The vibe being sent out now is that Haynesworth is buying into Jim Haslett’s 3-4 scheme that will not chain Haynesworth to the nose tackle position. He’ll be able to move around some. If Haynesworth is on board – and he can practice – he could make an impact for the Redskins.
Last season, Haynesworth was dominant at times but he also took a lot of practices off and that was a major concern for those associated with the team. The conditioning test is the first step to him getting back on the field. Stay tuned.
