Heath Evans will raffle his Super Bowl ring off for charity

Heath Evans isn’t selling his Super Bowl ring. He’s putting it up for charity auction.

The former New Orleans Saints fullback is raffing off his 14-karat ring with 16 diamonds around the face from Super Bowl XLIV, according to Nakia Hogan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The ring is estimated to be worth $10,000 and had a total of 44 diamonds .

Evans is putting the ring up for sale in an effort to raise funds for Celebration Hope Center in Metairie, where the team trains. The group works to assist victims of childhood sexual abuse in the New Orleans area. Raffle tickets are $2 each and a minimum purchase of five is required.

"This is something I thought about for a long time because I want to continue to help victims of childhood sexual abuse in the New Orleans area," Evans said.

Obviously, the charity means a lot to Evans for him to part with something as prized as a Super Bowl ring. He should be commended.
