Hoyer gets crash course in Steelers offense
Brian Hoyer has been busy this week, learning as much as he can about the Pittsburgh Steelers offense.
After all, at the rate Steelers quarterbacks have been falling of late, his number could be called at any moment.
Pittsburgh signed Hoyer this week after losing Byron Leftwich to a rib injury, just a week after Ben Roethlisberger was lost with shoulder and rib injuries. The Steelers have turned to Charlie Batch to start against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday with Hoyer waiting in the wings.
“I’m going to be as ready as I can,” Hoyer told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “There’s limited time and limited reps, and you just have to study as much as you can and go from there.
“Things may be called differently or certain things like that. The terminology might be different, but you just have to figure it out and compare it to something that you’ve done in the past.”
Hoyer had previously been Tom Brady's backup in New England, but was released in August.
